Mobile App User Guide

Building context in the field, where the work happens.

Everything technicians need to know about the mobile app

The mobile app helps technicians access building context where the work is happening — assigned work, asset lookup, linked documents, photos, and status updates. This guide covers the core field workflows plus safe, secure device practices.

Who this is for

  • Technicians
  • Field staff
  • Maintenance supervisors
  • Vendors

What you will learn

  • How to find and work your assigned jobs from a phone
  • How to look up an asset and open its linked documents
  • How to update status and capture notes and photos in the field
  • How to work around missing information without getting stuck
  • Secure device practices and what to do with poor signal

What the mobile app is for

The mobile app puts the operational record in your pocket. Standing in front of a unit, you can see what it is, what work is open on it, what documents describe it, and update everything without going back to a desk. Context comes to the work instead of the other way around.

Signing in

Sign in with your Project Bindr account on an approved device. Your access and the work you can see follow your role, so you get your jobs and your buildings without clutter.

Viewing assigned work

Your assigned work orders are the home base of the mobile experience. Open a job to see the asset, the location, the priority, and what needs doing — then work it from there.

Searching assets

Look up an asset by name, ID, or location when you need its details on the spot. Where an asset carries a QR or label, scanning or entering its ID takes you straight to the right record — no guessing which unit you are looking at.

Opening an asset record

An asset record shows the essentials: make, model, serial, location, warranty status, and its work history. That history is often the fastest way to understand a recurring problem before you start.

Reviewing linked documents

Manuals, cut sheets, and procedures linked to the asset are available right there. Pull up the manufacturer's instructions at the unit instead of hunting through a shared drive.

Updating work order status

Move the job through its states as you go — in progress, waiting on vendor, completed. Accurate, timely status keeps supervisors and requesters informed without phone calls.

Adding notes and photos

Capture what you did and what you saw. A clear note and a before/after photo become part of the asset's permanent history. Keep notes factual and specific — they are read later by people who were not there.

Capturing field observations

Noticed something beyond the current job — a leak starting, a worn belt, a missing label? Capture it against the asset so it is not lost. Today's observation is tomorrow's prevented failure.

Working around missing information

Field data is rarely perfect. If a serial is wrong or a document is missing, record what you can, flag the gap, and keep moving. Every correction you make from the field improves the record for the next person.

Security and device practices

Treat building data as confidential. Use approved devices where your organization requires them, keep the app and device updated, and sign out on shared devices.

  • Use approved devices where required
  • Avoid storing sensitive screenshots outside the platform
  • Keep field notes clear and factual
  • Link updates to assets whenever possible

Do not use mobile workflows for unsafe work or unauthorized control tasks. The app is for accessing information and recording work — not for operating equipment you are not authorized or trained to control.

What to do when offline or in poor signal areas

Mechanical rooms and basements are notorious for dead zones. Capture your notes and photos while you are there, and let them sync once you are back in coverage. Do not redo good fieldwork just because the signal dropped — record first, sync after.
